Nelson A. Gomez, M.D.
Dr. Gomez was born and raised in Colombia, South America. In 2000, he graduated from the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana Medical School in Bogota Colombia. Following medical school Dr Gomez worked for the Colombian Government’s Ministry of Health, treating patients in underserved areas of the country. In 2003, he began his 3-year internal medicine residency at St Elizabeth’s Medical Center, a teaching hospital of Tufts University School of Medicine, in Boston Massachusetts. Doctor Gomez remained at St Elizabeth’s to complete his fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine, which he completed in 2009. He joined Pulmonary Associates of Brandon in 2011 and is on staff at Brandon Regional Hospital, South Bay Hospital, and Kindred Hospital Tampa.
He has conducted research and been published in the areas of COPD and smoking cessation, which are of his main interest along with the diverse pathologies in Critical Care Medicine. He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Medicine and Critical Care Medicine. Dr Gomez and his family live in Tampa.
